Karen Seath is a Market Engagement and Sustainable Business Growth Consultant, specialising in developing sustainable business strategy and collaborative relationships, with a particular focus on decommissioning, diversification and circular economy, regarding the reuse/repurposing of decommissioned materials.
A senior management professional to CEO level, with over 25 years’ experience in the commercial, academic and environmental sectors (including oil and gas decommissioning, renewables, aquaculture, alcoholic drinks), she has extensive practical understanding of the “Triple Helix” model of innovation (academic, industry and government interfaces), and aim to influence, educate and unlock solutions for organisations. The result is strategic goals developed, alliances created, market opportunities identified and potential optimised.
Karen's cross-sector background leads to specific insights. A qualified Marine & Fisheries Biologist to Masters level, her passion for investigating the impact of man-made activities on the marine environment led her to work on marine science research and consultancy projects throughout Europe. Following a move into the private commercial sector, where she gained over 13 years’ experience with the drinks giant Diageo in risk management, regulatory and government affairs across global regions, she combined her scientific and commercial expertise to help open new market sectors and commercialise innovative technologies/ideas from subsidiary companies within academia.
More recently, she worked strategically across the oil and gas decommissioning sector with the member organisation Decom North Sea as General Manager and Interim CEO. In March 2017, Karen took the natural career step of working for herself where she used her experience and extensive cross sector network to provide strategic support to regulatory, academic and commercial entities, start-up and established, to identify opportunities, create alliances and drive growth.
