ASCO strengthens its leadership team to support growth and energy transition

ASCO has strengthened its leadership team to support its continued growth and energy transition with the appointment of two new general managers.

The global, integrated logistics and materials management company has appointed Mike Pettigrew as general manager for both the freight management business and shipping agency, Seletar, and Simon Turner has been promoted to general manager for the Southern UK business.

Commenting on the appointments, Glenn Hurren, ASCO Managing Director – UK, said: “These key roles add to our resources to best support the growing number of opportunities we are seeing throughout this exciting evolution in the industry. ASCO has successfully overcome the significant challenges of the last two years, and it is a testament to our team that we emerge from the pandemic in a stronger position to deliver sustainable growth in line with the group’s strategy.”

Mike Pettigrew joins ASCO with a wealth of experience and an extensive cross sector skillset, having worked in the energy, marine, industrial power and ship building sectors. He spent 13 years with Babcock and three years as a non-executive board member of Decom North Sea. In his new role, he will spearhead the integration of Seletar and the freight management businesses, bolstering their service offering and ensuring clients benefit from a fully integrated solution.

Seletar provides ship agency services including crew coordination, freight management, procurement services, onshore logistics as well as an extensive range of complementary services covering fuel provision, industrial tank cleaning, waste management, ship spares logistics. ASCO’s freight management business offers customs compliance, heli-freight and freight forwarding services.

Having spent 15 years with ASCO, Simon Turner has played a pivotal part in the company’s evolution into the decommissioning landscape in the UK, promoting a turnkey logistics and materials management solution, leveraging collaboration with local supply chains. His entrepreneurship and specialist knowledge of decommissioning and environmental services will broaden ASCO’s Southern UK offering.

Mr Turner added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to continue developing my career with ASCO at a really exciting time for the Southern UK area. I am looking forward to promoting the full scope of ASCO’s expertise and the role the company is playing to support clients towards a more sustainable future.”
