This initial call for the Oil and Gas Innovation Programme focuses on decommissioning - and its environmental management.
NERC will invest up to £1m in a cohort of projects lasting six to 12 months which translate existing NERC-remit science in the following theme areas:
- Development of baselines (proxies) and innovative monitoring techniques and approaches.
- Data management, sharing, access and collaboration.
- Impact of man-made structures on the natural environment and options for decommissioning.
- Innovative options for alternative use or extending the life of structures.
All proposals must involve end-users (ie private, public or third sector organisations or institutions, private industry, public bodies, non-government organisations or charities). Proposals should demonstrate the end-user's problem, how science can be applied to develop a 'solution' and the impact that the project will have on the end-user organisation.
All costs will be funded at 80% Full Economic Cost (FEC).
Successful projects should start on 1 April 2016.
Deadline for applications: 16:00 on 3 December 2015
Applicants should refer to the full Announcement of Opportunity for further details.
