Deepwind's latest webinar will feature a look at the ORION project from Shetland Island Council and the opportunity it represents for integrating floating offshore wind to hydrogen with this project.
The ORION project on Shetland is an ambitious Energy Transition project taking a holistic look at decarbonising the Shetland economy using renewable energy from large scale onshore and offshore wind. This energy island project encompasses Power from Shore to the West of Shetland and East of Shetland oil and gas fields. It looks at the opportunity to decarbonise existing infrastructure oil and gas facilities on Shetland and how to also tap this infrastructure to export green hydrogen. It will also highlight how the ScotWind site to the East of Shetland, NE1, offers the opportunity to integrate hydrogen from floating offshore wind into the wider ORION plan.
The scale of this project offers significant opportunities for the development of a local supply chain for hydrogen and floating offshore wind in Shetland and Scotland as well as opportunities for companies in the wider oil and gas Energy Transition market.
