Opportunity North East and Scottish Enterprise SME Diversification Programme
8 November 2018, 0930 – 1500 at The Chester Hotel, Queens Road, Aberdeen, AB15 4YP
The UK civil nuclear market presents significant opportunities for diversification for companies in the oil, gas and energy supply chain.
Nuclear decommissioning alone is a growth industry. The UK spends £2-3bn per annum on nuclear decommissioning activities. Since 2010, more than £150m per year has been spent on decommissioning works at the Dounreay site in Scotland. The sector is committed to procurement from SMEs as part its contracting strategy.
There are supply chain opportunities within the sector across a range of disciplines that includes electrical and mechanical engineering, fabrication, plant, testing and inspection, health and safety, and waste management.
This seminar, delivered by Opportunity North East and Scottish Enterprise through their joint SME Diversification Programme, will provide an overview of the market, insights from key operators and tier one contractors, advice on how to approach the market sector, case studies and Q&A.
The morning will include presentations from Cavendish Nuclear, Dounreay Site Restoration Limited, Wood, M2 Procurement & Commercial Services, Opportunity North East and Scottish Enterprise. A networking lunch will be followed by one-to-one sessions with the speakers in the afternoon. See the summary agenda below for further information.
ONE and SE are working in partnership to jointly support Scottish oil, gas and energy supply chain SMEs access new business opportunities through diversification into new market sectors. New markets provide additional opportunities for existing oil and gas skills, products and services and support the supply chain’s central role in the energy transition.
