UK Energy is a unique showcase of British capability in the energy industry, enabling companies to share expertise and consolidate strategic partnerships in the Brazilian Oil and Gas sector. This 5th edition will bring a British business mission to Brazil promoting specific strengths of the UK in Construction & Maintenance of Marine and Offshore Assets.
As part of the programme, British companies will have the opportunity to present at a conference on 21 March in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, the British Consolate General will organise a three-day visit programme encompassing the major contractors in Brazil. British companies can also apply to present specific case studies in three other workshops during the Energy Showcase which will focus respectively on UK strengths in Decommissioning, EOR and Energy Storage.
The Brazilian Market
Brazil has the second largest oil reserves in Latin America. Despite the global downturn in recent years, the scenario for the oil & gas and related marine construction and maintenance sectors is expected to improve in 2017. The Brazilian Government has announced that it will hold three oil and gas bidding rounds for new licenses this year, including in the pre-salt fields. Petrobras will invest US$75 billion by 2020, and Shell recently announced that it will invest over USD 10bn, in addition to the development of any further new opportunities. Statoil and Total have also recently announced the development of new projects in Brazil. Together, this represents a huge opportunity for British suppliers in Construction & Maintenance of Marine and Offshore Assets, Subsea, EOR and Decommissioning.
