This is a joint event with the Heat Transfer Society focusing on Ice Pigging - a way of decommissioning pipes and equipment containing hydrocarbons using very thick, abrasive water (in the form of an ice slurry).
Upstream operators have recently demonstrated that this technology (ice pigging) is able to remove oils, greases and waxes from the internal walls of the 24” carbon steel pipes, where water flushing has little or no effect. This event will focus on the demanding thermal aspects of the ice pig and its application in the process engineering sector.
