Over recent years there has been growing awareness that the North Sea has been significantly less successful in refurbishing and re-using facilities, plant, equipment and materials than in other oil & gas provinces, notably the Gulf of Mexico. Recent decommissioning projects in the province have achieved commendable levels of recycling, but only limited examples of re-use.
Decom North Sea has been working with an industry workgroup over the past year to determine how we can encourage greater re-use in future decommissioning projects. This event will give an overview of some of the activity already underway to encourage greater re-use as well as demonstrating the environmental and cost benefits of re-using decommissioned equipment using exemplar's from both oil and gas and other industries.
The event will conclude with facilitated discussions to engage with you on what you view as the benefits and value of re-use, what obstacles need to be overcome and how do we ensure that re-use is given greater consideration on future decommissioning projects.
