Introduction to Supply Chain Mapping
The process of decommissioning offshore oil and gas facilities is complex, and calls for sophisticated management, planning, coordination and control of a wide range of skills, resources, facilities, technologies, equipment, services and consultancies.
Recognising that the overall programme of decommissioning in the North Sea is still at an early stage, it can be difficult to identify companies able to provide these various capabilities.
The Decom North Sea mapping of supply chain capabilities has been developed to provide a straightforward on-line search facility which guides visitors towards companies able to provide the expertise and experience required.
This mapping system guides visitors to the appropriate area of the supply chain by searching :-
- which phase of decommissioning is being considered
- what kind of facilities are to be decommissioned, and
- which services or facilities are being sought.
Decom North Sea member companies in each category present an overview of their specific offering, capabilities and experience in decommissioning activities, the first time this has been done in detail.
The population of this mapping system is at a relatively early stage, and many more companies are expected to be incorporated in the months to come. However it already demonstrates the breadth and depth of the existing supply chain, and is stimulating greater industry awareness.
Companies who wish to included in this mapping system are invited to contact Sarah Hillyear
